Chlorophyll Me Daily 🌱

Unless you’ve been living under a rock then I’m sure you’re heard of the chlorophyll and it’s benefits. I often order supplements from Bare Root Remedy (which by the way I highly recommend). I’m always passionate about new herbal remedies, teas, etc that I find and welcome into my day-to-day rituals. At first, it was kind of weird to drink green water. Though, as I learned more about its many benefits, I made it a habit to consume it daily. I am recommending that you do the same! What is Chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is the natural compound present in green plants that gives them their color. It helps plants to absorb energy from the sun as they undergo the process of photosynthesis. This nutrient is present in green vegetables and other plant-based foods, like algae. The greener the vegetable is, the higher its chlorophyll content.

There are two types of chlorophyll in plants: chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b. All plants contain either one of these two varieties. They are both fat-soluble compounds that have antioxidant properties.

What’s the point of drinking chlorophyll water?

The benefits of chlorophyll on the human body are still in the early stages of investigation. However, research has already found that this supplement does indeed provide certain health benefits.

  • Chlorophyll acts as an internal deodorizer by pulling toxins like heavy metals from the intestinal tract, supporting digestion and bowel movements. Its detoxifying properties reduce bad breath as well as body odor.

  • Some studies suggest that it even helps to prevent cancer. Ulcers can also be treated in part with chlorophyll, whether it be sinuses, intestines, esophagus, etc due to its anti-inflammatory benefits.

  • It increases red blood cells, which boosts oxygen in the blood leading to increased energy. The chemistry of chlorophyll is identical to blood on a molecular level, with its only difference being that chlorophyll has magnesium and our blood has iron in it.

  • Chlorophyll can decrease the appearance of aging spots caused by the sun. Also, it may help to prevent acne and treat overly oily skin. It aids insomnia, too.

  • It has the power to counter the negative carcinogenic effects of meat. When you overcook meat, it releases harmful chemicals and chlorophyll detoxifies them.

But can it help your performance?

“In a roundabout way yes, it can help you maintain a healthy weight, which can indirectly improve performance,” says Kantor. “The natural increase in energy from the vitamins and antioxidants will also boost your immune system while improving performance.” Chlorophyll can also help neutralize the stress high-intensity training puts on your system, says Miriam Jacobson, RD, CNS, a functional medicine dietitian. “Its antioxidant properties help to neutralize oxidative stress and free radicals, so it can aid recovery.”

In Closing

"Consuming 100-300 milligrams up to three times per day is generally considered a safe dosage (1 tbsp. is approximately 100 mg)."

When choosing your chlorophyll product, it’s important to make sure you’re not getting a product that’s watered down, even if the price seems right.

Please note that, nutrition changes are the key to long-term success leading to a healthy lifestyle and it is a gradual process. However, you will likely notice even the smallest changes when it comes to your productivity levels over time.
